The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum invites you to join us for a book signing and review featuring author, Sam Anderson. Mayor David Holt will moderate a tantalizing discussion with the award winning journalist to discuss his long-awaited debut book, Boom Town: The Fantastical Saga of Oklahoma City, its Chaotic Founding, its Apocalyptic Weather, its Purloined Basketball Team, and the Dream of Becoming a World-Class Metropolis.
Thursday, August 23th from 5:30 to 7:30pm in the Museum’s Center for Education & Outreach
Drinks and light bites will be served.
The book is a product of Anderson’s remarkable journalistic instinct and five years delving deep into the Oklahoma City’s past, present, and future, including how the bombing and creation of the Memorial changed our city forever. In its exploration of a singular place, BOOM TOWN shows us a city as a microcosm of the American experiment, where the question of how people live together, come together, and make a collective life refuses an easy answer. It is a brilliant, kaleidoscopic narrative of Oklahoma City — a great American story of civics, basketball, and destiny. Following the discussion, signed copies of the book will be made available for purchase.
