He played basketball, though his favorite sport was always football.
Derwin Miller, 27, moved to Oklahoma City soon after graduating cum laude in 1980 from the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff with a psychology degree. He was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity in college. Miller was a claims examiner in the Social Security Administration. He was buried in Lonoke, AR, Tuesday, five days after what would have been his 28th birthday. A family friend said Miller and his family are well-known and respected members of the small community. Miller is survived by a daughter, his parents, two brothers and a sister.
